The weather was great for the season’s second race weekend at the Mission Raceway Park Road Course on May 5th-6th. A good time was had by all!

The Vintage results are available here; the complete results for the weekend are available on the SCCBC web site (here). We have a break in the action now until the third event – the June 23rd-24th weekend. That will give everybody a good chance to get some of those new ‘go faster bits’ on their cars!

Thanks to Brent Martin for more great photos of our Vintage action (see below) and check out all of his photos on his web site (here).

See you at the track in June!

The First Race Weekend is Done!

‘Turn up the volume!’ Here’s a view we don’t often see. Dennis Repel (’74 Chevrolet Camaro) leads Ian Thomas (’70 BMW 2002), Peter Valkenburg (’69 Porsche 911) and Steven Allaire (’92 Porsche Carrera Cup ) into Mission’s Turn 4 during one of the day’s great Vintage battles. – Brent Martin photo

Updated: April 30, 2018

The April 21st-22nd weekend was a very busy one for the VRCBC. Some members were ‘working’ our display at the BC Classic & Custom Car Show in Abbotsford, while everybody else was ‘playing’ at the race track!

The 2018 race season at Mission Raceway Park Road Course began under sunny skies with the first Sports Car Club of BC (SCCBC) event, sanctioned by the CACC. As usual, our Vintage REVS series races were held on the Sunday. The Vintage results are available here; the complete results for the weekend are available on the SCCBC web site (here).

And now that spring has finally arrived, it’s time to get that grass cut, as VRCBC Vice President Paul Haym so ably demonstrated with his highly efficient Datsun 510 ‘mower’ in Turn 5!

More of Brent Martin’s photos of the Vintage action are shown below. (Thanks Brent.) The rest of Brent’s photos of the whole weekend of racing are now posted on his website (here).

Last Westwood Historic Motor Races Now on YouTube!

Updated: November 26, 2017

Many of those who attended the VRCBC’s special ‘Westwood Mural Unveiling’ meeting at Mark’s Auto Body in Port Coquitlam or our Annual Banquets have asked about one of the DVD’s we have shown.

This was ‘The Last Race’, a DVD produced by Hans Sipma about the very last Vintage race event, ‘The Tenth Annual Historics Weekend’, held at Westwood over an early July weekend in 1990.

Update: Hans has now posted his video on YouTube. You can find it here. Thank you Hans!

The entry list of almost 100 cars that is included with the DVD contains many familiar names, quite a few of whom are still Vintage racing today. And you will recognize a lot of the faces too (although they are considerably younger!) when you watch it.

The DVD captures a lot of the activity and fun in the Paddock as well as having some great video of the on-track action, which features everything from classic Morgans to ‘Vettes and XKE’s, and from Formula Vees and Fords, to the beautiful 1948 Talbot Lago Grand Prix car, captured by Kane Rogers in his cover illustration.
