Update – BCHMR Driver Restraints

The rules for driver harness restraint assemblies that will apply at the 2010 BC Historic Motor Races (BCHMR) have been further clarified. There is some potential for confusion because the different sanctioning bodies have some different rules. Please review the information below and if you have any further questions, contact the current CACC Vintage Discipline Chair (see Contacts ).

(A) FIA Certified Harnesses: There are no differences among the sanctioning bodies. All FIA certified restraint harnesses are usable until the “not valid after xxxx” date on the tag that is on each belt in the assembly.

(B) SFI Certified Harnesses:

  • CACC requires that the harness be less than two years old to the month. (e.g., manufactured in July 2008 is good to July 2010).  The applicable section of the CACC General Competition Regulations is 7-Life Span. The CACC web site will have the most current regulations and should always be checked for any recent updates.
  • ICSCC requires that the harness be less than two years old to the month. (e.g., manufactured in July 2008 is good to July 2010).
  • SCCA requires that the harness be less than two years old to the year. (e.g., manufactured in July 2008 is good to December 2010).
  • SOVREN requires that the harness be less than five years old to the month. (e.g., manufactured in July 2008 is good to July 2013).

The BCHMR is a CACC-sanctioned event. The CACC has agreed to the following rules specifically for the BCHMR:

  • A car with a CACC log book and any car driven by ASN Canada licensed driver must comply with the CACC rules.
  • A car with a SCCA log book driven by a non-Canadian resident driver who does not have an ASN Canada license may use a restraint harness which meets the current SCCA requirements.
  • A car with a SOVREN log book driven by a non-Canadian resident driver who does not have an ASN Canada license may use a restraint harness which meets the current SOVREN requirements.
  • Any other log book / driver situations will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
