The weather conditions for this season's second race weekend couldn't have been more different from those at the first. While it was soaking wet in May; it was baking hot for the SCCBC's 'Race for the House' event during the July 12th-13th weekend. The heat took its toll on both racing cars and drivers. (Of course, crew members, turn workers, safety crews and the other race officials and volunteers who are well-known to be much tougher, hardly noticed that the sky was cloudless!)

The results are posted under the 2014 Race Results menu (here). As always, thanks to the SCCBC for making them available.

New: Check out some of Brent Martin's photos below. More to follow soon. (Thanks Brent.)

The 2014 Vintage racing season at Mission Raceway Park Road Course got off to a very soggy start on May 25th. The weather was OK on the Saturday of the SCCBC's "May-niacs" Weekend, but the Sunday - when the Vintage races were run - was a real west coast-style soaker! Not all of the VRCBC racers had the ideal tires for the conditions but nevertheless 'a good time was had by all' - sort of. After all, being out on the race track - no matter the conditions - is always better than doing chores at home!

The results are posted under the 2014 Race Results menu (here). Thanks to the SCCBC for making them available.

Check out Brent Martin's photos below. As always, thanks Brent.

Our thanks to the SCCBC for hosting our races once again this year. The results are now available and are posted on the 2013 Results page (here) Here are some of the first photos of the action. Once again our thanks to Brent Martin for the on-track shots. You can check out all of Brent's photos on his web site (here).

Updated

The VRCBC's November general meeting (Tuesday November 13th) was a very special one, particularly for all those who remember the Westwood Racing Circuit. The meeting was held at the Mark's Auto Body (here) location in Port Coquitlam.

Many current Mission Raceway regulars will know Dino Milacic from his very fast peddling of the white MioDino Racing BMW 330i. Dino grew up going to Westwood however and although he was too young to have ever had a chance to race there, he has never forgotten it. Earlier this year Dino decided to permanently honour the memory of the track by turning one wall  (Yes, one whole wall!) of their PoCo shop into a Westwood mural. It's all there - from the mountains in the distance, to the trees, grass, dirt and asphalt, plus the cars of course, in the foreground. And as a special bonus, the sky is blue and it can be guaranteed - for the first time ever - that it will never rain at this 'Wetwood'!

After the regular meeting finished, there was a 'formal' ceremony to 'unveil' the mural. Guests are always welcome at VRCBC meetings and a lot of Westwood veterans joined us for this one. It was a great time and the VRCBC would really like to thank Dino and Bobby Milacic for hosting us. Check out the Mark's Auto Body Facebook page (here) for more on the event.

Thanks to Brent Martin for providing us with all of these photos. He has more coming soon - check back.
