It wasn't just the racing that was hot at the SCCBC's fourth event of the season over the July 14th - 15th weekend; it was really warm out there!

The Vintage racers were out on the Sunday as usual, with some of the cars (and some drivers too!) showing the effects of the heat. Nevertheless, it was fun. The complete results are available on the CACC #4 Results page on the SCCBC web site (here).

Once again, thanks to Brent Martin for the photos below. You can find all of his albums on his web site (here).

The next Vintage racing at the Mission Raceway Park Road Course will be our very own British Columbia Historic Motor Races on August 17th to 19th! Watch the photos of the entrants grow on the BCHMR web site (here).

[caption id="attachment_13916" align="aligncenter" width="450"] Two of the VRCBC's top 'draft picks' for 2018 battle it out in the Saturday Novice Race! Ewen Dobbie (1959 Porsche 356A) and Gunther Ruppel (1960 Austin Healey 'Bugeye' Sprite) will be 'graduating' to Vintage racing very soon. We are really looking forward to having these two plus Scott Whidden's Alfetta on our grids. - Jim Moody photo[/caption] Posted: June 26, 2018

We again lucked out with the weather for the season’s third race event at the Mission Raceway Park Road Course on the June 23rd-24th weekend. The complete results for the weekend are available on the SCCBC web site (here).

Thanks to Jim Moody and Brent Martin for the great photos of our Vintage action (see below).

The season's fourth event - the July 14th-15th weekend - will be a 'Vintage Double' with Vintage racing on both the Saturday and the Sunday. This will be the perfect warm-up for the our big annual event, the BC Historic Motor Races, a month later during the August 18th-19th weekend.

Get those entries in! See you at the track!

The VRCBC again had a display at the 2018 All British Field Meet (This was the 33rd edition!) at Vancouver's VanDusen Botanical Garden on Saturday, May 19th.

The VRCBC is very grateful to the ABFM. As a non-profit motorsport club, we enjoy complimentary sponsorship at the ABFM in order to promote awareness (and attendance) of our BC Historic Motor Races over the August 18th - 19th weekend, among both classic car owners and enthusiasts in general.

The weather was good and there was the usual large crowd of enthusiasts checking out the many classic British cars and motorcycles.

The legendary Austin Healey 'Bugeye' Sprite was one of this year's featured marques and Gunther Ruppel's bright red racing version was very prominent in our display, right next to the 'main road'. We are all looking forward to seeing Gunther really 'wheelin' it' at Mission this season!

Check out Brent Martin's other photos of our display below, and his full gallery of 2018 ABFM shots on his web site (here).

The April 21st-22nd weekend was a very busy one for the VRCBC. Some members were 'working' our display at the BC Classic & Custom Car Show in Abbotsford, while everybody else was 'playing' at the race track!

The 2018 race season at Mission Raceway Park Road Course began under sunny skies with the first Sports Car Club of BC (SCCBC) event, sanctioned by the CACC. As usual, our Vintage REVS series races were held on the Sunday. The Vintage results are available here; the complete results for the weekend are available on the SCCBC web site (here).

And now that spring has finally arrived, it's time to get that grass cut, as VRCBC Vice President Paul Haym so ably demonstrated with his highly efficient Datsun 510 'mower' in Turn 5! [gallery columns="2" size="medium" ids="13724,13723"] More of Brent Martin's photos of the Vintage action are shown below. (Thanks Brent.) The rest of Brent's photos of the whole weekend of racing are now posted on his website (here).

Our local motorsport sanctioning body, the CACC secured a  very high profile space at the Vancouver International Auto Show for its member clubs and other BC motorsport groups to display their cars, clubs and events. The show was held at the Vancouver Convention Centre at Canada Place.

The CACC's objective was to showcase all facets of our sport in BC, including Slalom, Hill Climb, Time Attack, Ice Race, Road Race and (our own favourite of course!) Vintage. This year's big display included many specially selected (including three Vintage) competition cars, video footage, club schedules and brochures, and other promotional material.

A special focus this year was to show visitors how they can be involved in all of the action and have a lot of fun, without having to actually race a car. They can volunteer and be trained for flagging, communications, timing and scoring, and many other key positions.

Some of Brent Martin's photos of the VRCBC moving in their cars on Sunday, March 25th. Good fun!
